The word quartenor is attested in Continental French as an adjective meaning ‘aged four years’ and is used with reference to boars or swine (cf. Gdf 6,485a). Such a reading does not make any sense here. As the editor of Corset ants argues, AND¹’s proposed meaning ‘(dead) for four days (?)’ has no corroborative evidence and is too much at odds with the notion of being alive for four days. The word is likely to be a corruption or error and an emendation is therefore suggested.
