The word may be an Italian borrowing as it is otherwise unattested in Continental French before the second half of the fifteenth century and 1621 in English. As the OED notes, risco is attested in Italian in the first half of the 14th century and risicum is attested in Italian Latin sources in the mid-twelfth century.
