recoupee1 (s.xiii2)

The form reucopeu is a cross reference to the following entry:

recoupee1 (s.xiii2)

recopé,  recopee,  recopeye,  recopie,  recoupé;  reucopeu,  reucoupé  (recopre (l. recopie?) recuper)
FEW: Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF:  recopre  / coup (recoupee)  DMF: TLF: OED: MED: DMLBS:  recopia 2685c

The etymology of the term is unclear. The Latin cognate, recopia, is only attested from the fifteenth century, and is likely to derive from the Anglo-Norman term. The form suggests that the plant name may be related to recouper1 (‘to cut back, clip’).
