[romongere] (1212)

The form rumongour is a cross reference to the following entry:

[romongere] (1212)

romangeour,  romanger,  romangre,  romongur;  rumangur,  rumongour
FEW:  muletier 23,61b / ross *16,735b Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF:  romangre  / ros (*)  DMF: TLF: OED:  romonger n.  MED:  ro-mongour n.  DMLBS:

le

The first element, ro, is a word for ‘horse’, also found in Continental French (cf. DMF rosse and DEAF ros), but otherwise not attested in Anglo-Norman.

The unetymological sense of ‘mule-driver’ has no equivalent in Middle English, and seems to be specific to Dial Greg satf.
