huissher,  huisshier,  huisser,  huissier;  husher,  husier,  husser,  hussher,  hussier;  oisser,  oisseur,  ousser;  uisser,  uissier;  uscher,  usher,  usier;  usscher,  usser,  ussher,  usshier;  uysser,  hyssher  13

In Horn 3638 (var.), ‘Kar pur li oreinz fu un usser enveez’, the editor glosses the word as ‘messenger’. Although appropriate in this context, the word does not really have that sense, and it is therefore not incorporated in this entry. Rather, it indicates that one of the functions of a doorkeeper or porter was to convey messages.
