[roigné]1 (s.xiii2/3)

The form rungé is a cross reference to the following entry:

[roigné]1 (s.xiii2/3)

rungé
FEW:  *ronea *10,469b Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF:  roigne (*)  DMF: TLF: OED: MED: DMLBS:

Since this adjectival form is unattested elsewhere, it may be that the Anglo-Norman glosses the Latin adjective (‘scaly, rough’, DMLBS squarrosus 3174a) imperfectly, and that the word should be read nominally, without the accent, as another attestation of roigne1. Any association with the verbs roigner (‘to cut, trim’) or runger (‘to gnaw, nibble’), which derive from different etyma, seems semantically impossible.
