regné1 (1113-19)

[gdw]

[ FEW: 10,215a regnare; Gdf: 6,744c regné; GdfC: ; TL: 8,626 regné; DEAF:  regner (regnee); DMF:  régné; TLF: ; OED:  regnee n.; MED: ; DMLBS: ]
regned,  regnee,  regnet;  rengné,  regnie  955 (var. L)
pl. regnez

In certain graphies it is impossible to determine whether or not the final e is tonic (regne vs. regné), unless it occurs in a rhyming position. In prose, it usually is a matter of editorial choice whether or not the word is given an accent. The different etymologies and less ambiguous variant graphies validate the necessity of two separate dictionary entries.
