putevile (1396)

[ gdw]

[ FEW: *9,634b putidus; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF:  put (*); DMF:  puteville; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]
putiveil

Considering the word's derogatory sense, an etumology associated with the words put1 and vil1 seems likely. The DMF tentatively suggests a reading as ‘pute[s] vilez’. For a similar issue, see puteleime.
