The specific sense of ‘duty levied upon imported wine’ is first attested in English from 1505 (1503 in a Latin source), and does not seem to have an Anglo-Norman precedent. However, the one adjectival use sub preisable (from 1393) suggests that the concept of such a tax must have existed in Anglo-Norman as well.
