GdfC and TLF include an earlier Anglo-Norman attestation of the verb from the Life of Edward the Confessor: ‘Quant est oi e cunfermé Mais enregistré e enbullé Au cuncil’ S Edw2 2476. However, Wallace’s more recent edition, S Edw2 ants, rejects this reading, and transcribes the same passage as: ‘Quant est oi e cunfermé, Mis eu registre e enbullé’.
