rois1 (1394)

FEW:  racemus *10,11b Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF:  raisin (*)  DMF: TLF: OED: MED: DMLBS:

The citation is obscure, and it is possible to consider the word an incomplete variant of raisin in need of emendation (to rois[in]). Alternatively, the fruit in question may also be a type of fig: the MED, sub fige n., includes fige of Amalek with the sense of ‘Malaga fig’, while the DMLBS, sub ficus1, attests to figs of ‘Tanill’ and ‘Mallek’.
