roche2 (s.xii)

[gdw]

[ FEW: 16,732a roche; Gdf: 7,212b roce; GdfC: ; TL: 8,1357 roche 1; DEAF:  roche 1; DMF:  roche 2; TLF: ; OED:  roach n.1; MED:  roche n.3; DMLBS: 2847b rocha 1 ]
roge  ii 108 rosse  Ed II xi 4
pl. rochys,  rokis

The word’s earliest attestation in TLL i 23 (a twelfth-century glossary) appears among mainly English glosses, and could also be considered to be English. However, the secondary gloss, scygla, already provides a Middle English name for the fish (MED scilga n.), making this instance of roche more likely to be the Anglo-Norman equivalent (cf. similar trilingual triplets on the same folio: ‘anguille: eles .i. anguillies / scardo: baers .i. perche’, TLL i 23).
