(raer)1 (s.xiii1)

[gdw]

[ FEW: ; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF:  raer; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]

Reichl’s suggestion in S Marg1 (included in AND1) that the word is a variant of raier2raier2 (‘to shine’) with the otherwise unattested meaning of ‘fell, crumbled’ seems unlikely. The word is possibly a misreading of baer1 (‘to gape, open wide’).

v.n.

1(to open wide)
( s.xiii1; MS: s.xiii2 )  Par le plaisir al seignur merciable Raa (l. Baa) la terre, si transglut le diable  236
