performer (s.xiii2/4)

[ hap]

[ FEW: 3,717a formare; Gdf: 5,766c parformer; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF: ; DMF:  parformer; TLF: ; OED:  perform v. / perfurnish v.; MED:  performen v. / perfurnishen v.; DMLBS: 2207b performare ]
parformer,  parformir,  parfourmer,  parfourmir,  parfurmer,  performier,  performir,  performyr,  performyre,  perfourmer,  perfourmere,  perfoormir

The FEW suggests that frumjan gave both an –n– and –m– variant, which is how they account for the dual forms parfurnir and parfurmir. Formally, and semantically, the verb equally seems to have been influenced by formare. Following this proposed split, the AND has two entries: parfurnir and performer. It is some variants result from manuscript confusion between –ni– and –m–; sub perfornire in the DMLBS, they suggest the form perforniare was also extant and difficult to distinguish from performare.
