[ hap]
Normally pas1 and pas2 would be incorporated into a single entry, as they derive from the same etymon. However, as the semantic shift of pas to become a negative particle seems to have occurred prior to the Anglo-Norman period, resulting in a complete semantic separation between the two words, unlike with other negative particles, e.g. mie1, which continued to primarily have the sense of 'a small item of no value', the two have been treated in separate entries.
