outrure (1428-29)

[ gdw]

[ FEW: *14,10b ultra; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF:  outre (outrure); DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]
outreyeure

The word is unattested elsewhere and remains problematic. It was defined in AND1 as ‘management’, probably interpreting it as a synonym to administracion in the first citation. There is, however, no etymological evidence to support this sense. A possible reading as outre eur, which would then translate as ‘continued fortune, further wealth’ (cf. eur1) is also unlikely in the light of the statement in the second citation that the outrure dez biens should be carried out ‘in as short a time as possible’. The current definition interprets the word as part of the outre family.
