usler1 (1121-35)

The form husler is a cross reference to the following entry:

usler1 (1121-35)

husler;  uler,  uller  (udler  Merveilles Inde 27.409 uiller ),
(p.p. udlez  Ch Guill 2688)
FEW:  ustulare 14,75b Gdf:  usler 8,123a GdfC: TL: uller 2 11,35 DEAF: DMF:  uller 2  TLF: OED: MED: DMLBS:  urere 3563c / ustulare 3568b

The word is generally synonymous with hasler and bruler. The former, although somewhat similar in form, has a different etymology (assulare, FEW 25,575b). The latter, on the other hand, derives from the same Latin etymon as usler, ustulare (which is itself a diminutive form of urerer, i.e. ‘to burn a little’), with the addition of a vernacular br- prefix; cf. FEW 14,81.
