uvein (s.xiii2/4)

[gdw]

[ FEW: *14,90b uva; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF: ; DMF: ; TLF:  uvée (uveal); OED:  uveal a.; MED: ; DMLBS: 3577c uveus ]

It should be noted that the word appears here with a different adjectival suffix from the equivalent found in English or Continental French. The manuscript reading, rejected in the edition, is cuveine (otherwise not attested): the heavily emended nature of this passage, which also deviates considerably from its Latin source (see comments A-N Med i 261), may cast some doubt on the legitimacy of this term.
