urne1 (s.xiiiin)

Latin? urna
FEW:  urna 14,63b Gdf: GdfC:  urne 10,824a TL: DEAF: DMF:  urne  TLF:  urne  OED:  urn n.  MED:  urne n.  DMLBS:  urna 3565a

These two attestations are found in two Lapidaries of engraved gems, which were translated independently from presumably the same Latin sources (no longer available according to the edition, Lapid 277). They may be considered Latinisms here, although the word clearly existed in Continental French and Middle English (usually with the sense of ‘urn containing the ashes of the dead’).
