urcele (s.xiii3/4)

[gdw]

[ FEW: 14,60b urceolus; Gdf: 5,615a orcel /5,615b orcele /5,615c orçuel; GdfC: ; TL: 6,1185 orcel /6,1185 orcele /6,1185 orçuel; DEAF:  orcel / orcel (orcele); DMF:  orcel / orcelle / orçuel; TLF: ; OED:  urcelle n.; MED: ; DMLBS: 3563a urceolus ]
orsele;  urcel,  ulcel (l. urcel?)

Whereas the manuscript of the Bedford Inventories attestation clearly reads orseles (and the editor translates ‘branches and vases of gold’), this may be a scribal copying error for the word oiseles, so that the chapelle (i.e. 'cap') has images of ‘branches and birds’.
