trescupru (1165-80 (?))

[gdw]

[FEW: ; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF: ; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]

The origin of this hapax remains unclear. The word translates Latin agrescentibus which in is in itself obscure and, as the editor of adgar3 suggests (p. 357), may be interpreted as acrescere – a medieval formation parallel to acescere (‘to turn sour’, DMLBS 18b). Alternatively, the Latin word may be a misreading of aegrescentibus (DMLBS 40c aegrescere, 'to become ill').
