taschour (c.1270)

The form tassour is a cross reference to the following entry:

taschour (c.1270)

tascur,  tasker,  taskere,  taskur;  tassour
FEW:  taxare 13/i,134b Gdf:  tascheour 7,652c / taschier 7,653a GdfC: TL: taschëor 10,130 DEAF:  tasche 2 (tascheor)  DMF: TLF: OED:  tasker n.  MED:  tasker(e n.  DMLBS:  taxator 3378b

The word as used in henley2 (spelled as tassour or tasçur) may also be interpreted as an agent use of the verb tasser (‘to heap, pile up), and hence be translated as ‘stacker of corn’. This translation is favoured by the editor of henley2, in spite of the form taskur. See also TL tassëor 10,134.

Another interpretation of this same set of citations in henley2 is that they may be variant spellings of taxur (‘tax assessor’), which etymologically is the same word.
