The double ‘ee’ spelling in vegetius 1 107.13-14, with an extra ‘e’ added above the line, is perhaps a hypercorrection to a form of serré1 (‘in serried ranks’) which may stem from a misunderstanding of Latin serra ('saw') as sera ('lock').
