No direct cognate can be found in Latin though sagittarius DMLBS 2899a is identified as 'arrow-head (Sagittaria sagittifolia)' and sagittula DMLBS 2899c is used for 'an unidentified plant, possibly agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) or houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum).
