[ gdw]
This form, with elision of the unstressed syllable of quarraria, is also found in medieval Latin and Middle English and becomes the standard English word. It is rare in Anglo-Norman (as a synonym of quarrere) and appears only in these two glosses. It is unclear whether this instance of syncope is a genuine Anglo-Norman process, or whether the word is a borrowing from Middle English (or, as the OED suggests, even a scribal error, perhaps through the omission of an -er- abbreviation symbol).
