pucher (s.xiii1)

[ gdw]

[ FEW: ; Gdf: ; GdfC: ; TL: ; DEAF:  pucher; DMF: ; TLF: ; OED: ; MED: ; DMLBS: ]

It is unclear whether this otherwise not attested verb is related to English puke v. (origin uncertain). The latter, however, is only attested from the late sixteenth century onwards, i.e. more than three centuries later than these Anglo-Norman glosses. Alternatively, the word may somehow be a corrupt version of vuncher (from Latin vomicare).

v.n.

1to vomit, spew (?)
( MS: s.xiii1 )  nauseo (gloss: pucher) / quod idem est quod vomere (gloss: pucher) quod in transfretatione marius sepius contingit, unde nausea  i 187.163 and ii 105.163
