(progour) (1382)

FEW: Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF: DMF: TLF: OED: MED: DMLBS:

This term has been translated in the PROME edition as ‘hoarder’, but no such word exists in ML, MF or ME. It seems possible that the word should be read as pro[ro]gour. However, this term is unattested in English prior to 1551 (prorogue v.) and is completely absent from French.

s.

one who prorogues, delays
( 1382 )  quant a ce q'est demandé de usure, usurers et progours (l. pro[ro]gours?) d'ycell comprises en dite bille [...]  Rot Parl1 iii 143
