This otherwise unattested term for ‘antelope’ seems to have beenbe a compound created from parti (p.p. partir ‘particoloured, variegated’ and pol from pullus 2 ‘the young of a horse, foal, colt’ (DMLBS 2569b), though this form is unknown in pulle.
