The form effiçail is a cross reference to the following entry:

afiçail (1150-70)

afiçal;  affiçail;  efiçail,  effiçail
FEW:  *figicare 3,508b Gdf:  afichail 1,138a GdfC: TL: afichal 1,183 DEAF:  fichier (afichail)  DMF:  affichal  TLF: OED: MED: DMLBS:  afficha 48b

The sense 'hairpin', suggested by the second gloss erpin, is unexpected and does not seem applicable to the Latin context (TLL i 183.66). Furthermore, according to the OED the English word hairpin n. is not attested before the nineteenth century, suggesting that the gloss erpin may not be interpreted correctly.
