Perse1 (s.xii1/3)

The form Percie is a cross reference to the following entry:

Perse1 (s.xii1/3)

Perce,  Percie,  Pers,  Persie  (Peerse ,  Persse )
FEW:  Perse 8,263b Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF: DMF: TLF: OED:  Perse n.1  MED:  Pers(e n.2  DMLBS:  Persa 2231c

It remains unclear if Latin persus which gave pers1 was derived from Persia (AN Perse1), this link perhaps reflecting the importation of luxury fabrics from the area in the ancient world. The two senses have been included in the entry for persan but it is possible they should be considered to have separate etymologies.
