The word is rare in Anglo-Norman, and its existence may even be questionable. Firstly, the attestation in S Geo is the product of an editorial intervention and therefore not a genuine witness. Secondly, alternative manuscripts of Gloss Nequam (TLL ii 65-122) gloss the same Latin passage as peonier, and without consulting the original MS, the possibility that this instance of peonet is a misreading of peoner cannot be excluded. That being said, as a diminutive of peon the lexeme seems entirely plausible.
