The word sue is probably a borrowing from the ME word soue ‘sow’. Another possibility would be to read the form as sué, which would make it a spelling variant of suer2 ‘pig’ (from Latin sus). Continental French also has the substantives soue/sou, derived from *suteg (FEW 12,479a; DMF sou 2; soue 1 and GDF sou 7,488c) although only in the sense of ‘pigsty’.
