Hostorium is a word usually glossed with (e)stric(le) (TLLii 72, 164, 166 and 172), radur (TLL ii 72) or rastre (TLL ii 101) – all of which mean ‘strickle’. The following two attestation have been defined accordingly, even though no plausible etymology (either from rota, ‘wheel’ cf. roe¹, or rotula, ‘small wheel’ or ‘roll of parchment’, cf. roule¹) presents itself.
