The earliest attestations of this word in English and Continental French are from the sixteenth century. The manuscript seems to read pictagor, with a rounded ‘c’ followed by a higher ‘t’, and this reading was used in AND1. However, not only would ‘tt’ be etymologically more correct, the scribe uses both the long and the short ‘t’ (with or without the vertical line rising above the horizontal stroke) elsewhere in the text, so that this ‘ct’ may well be interpreted as a graphy for ‘tt’.
