[ gdw]

[ FEW: 16,604b *nuska; Gdf: 5,506a noche; GdfC: ; TL: 6,827 nosche; DEAF: ; DMF:  noche 2; TLF: ; OED:  ouche n.; MED:  nouche n.; DMLBS: ]
uche,  onche (l. ouche)

This word is derived from (and synonymous with) nusche, with the initial n- aglutinated by the indefinite article (un nouche became un ouche) ; see OED ouche n. This process of metanalysis appears to be unique to the Anglo-Norman (and English) word(s).
