The French verb derived from Latin nuptiae is generally noceier; cf. FEW nuptiae 7,244a. It is possible that nuptier (only attested in this text) is a more Latinized form, although the DMLBS does not include a verb such as *nuptare. Alternatively, the FEW lists noepçoiier as a Norman variant of nocier (c.1350) (FEW 7,244a), raising the possibility that the Anglo-Norman verb may be read nupcier (a ‘c’/’t’ confusion being a common transcription error) and should then be listed as a variant of noceier.
