Picte (1136-37)

Picte (1136-37)

Pecte  (Pice  Scalacronica 22)
FEW: Gdf: GdfC: TL: DEAF: DMF: TLF: OED:  Pict n. and a.  MED:  Pict n.  DMLBS:  Pictus 2276a

It is also possible to read Pictes and Pectes with an accented second syllable (i.e. Pictés and Pectés) and to consider them variant spelling of Picteis (cf. entry Pictés in AND1). However, this unaccented form is equally possible and perhaps more likely as an Anglo-Norman equivalent to the word in English.
